ILSA is saddened by the passing of Dr. Koen De Feyter

ILSA is saddened to learn of the passing of longtime Friend of the Jessup, Dr. Koen De Feyter. Dr. De Feyter was a Jessup competitor from Belgium in the 1980s, and continued his involvement with the Competition as a coach and advisor throughout the years, most recently at University of Antwerp, where he was recently appointed Dean. Outside of the Jessup, he was an accomplished scholar and teacher in the areas of human rights and development cooperation, the rights of indigenous peoples, human rights and business, and the right to development. Our thoughts and best wishes are with his family, friends, students, and colleagues.

Jessup 2025 Basic Materials Out Now

The Basic Materials for Jessup 2025 are now available ahead of schedule. These materials are intended to give teams a strong foundation with which to begin their research. Teams are not limited to these materials and are strongly encouraged to go beyond them in their research for the Jessup problem. ILSA may update this list on an ad hoc basis. Jessup 2025 Judging Preferences

If you are interested in judging Jessup 2025, please complete the 2025 Judging Preferences form available on your Judge Homepage.

If you register your preferences for judging National and Friendly Rounds, we will share your contact information with the National Administrators in the locations in which you indicated your interest in judging. The National Administrators will be communicating with and scheduling judges for National Rounds. The most up-to-date information about National Rounds including dates, locations, and National Administrator email addresses can be found on our National and Friendly Rounds page. If you have questions about a specific National Round, we encourage you to contact the National or Friendly Administrator in the first instance. However, you can also email [email protected] with questions or concerns.

International Law Weekend 2024

The American Branch of the International Law Association invites you to its annual International Law Weekend (ILW) conference, October 24-26, 2024, in New York City. The theme of ILW 2024 is Powerless Law or Law for the Powerless?

ILW 2024 will host a diverse collection of engaging and provocative panels and plenary sessions. The audience includes practitioners, academics, UN diplomats, business leaders, federal and state government officials, NGO leaders, journalists, students, and interested persons.

ILW 2024 opens at the New York City Bar Association on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with the President’s High-Level Opening Plenary Panel. The conference continues at Fordham University School of Law on Friday and Saturday, October 25-26, 2024, and features 36 panels on various topics. ILW 2024 also features community and committee networking rooms and opportunities to meet with legal book publishers.
