Longtime Jessup Judges Room Coordinator, Rusty Dalferes, loved that the Jessup brings together people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. With his passing, the Rusty Dalferes Memorial Fund was set up to carry on his legacy by helping defray travel costs for dedicated, skilled Jessup judges. The International Law Students Association (ILSA), the organization responsible for administering the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, invites all interested persons to submit proposals for issues to be addressed in the Jessup 2024 Problem (a.k.a. the Jessup Compromis). ILSA is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Student Deak Award. The Student Deak Award is given annually to the best international law student article in a student-edited law journal. The award honors Francis Deak, a WWII veteran who wrote extensively on international law. The award is the student corollary to the Deak Prize separately awarded by the American Journal of International Law to a younger author for meritorious scholarship in the prior year’s volume of the Journal. The application process to receive a grant from Rusty Dalferes Memorial Fund is now open. The Fund assists judges who require financial assistance to attend the 2023 White & Case Jessup International Rounds, which will be held from 8-15 April 2023 in Washington, D.C.
