Jessup 2024 Rules Update

Jessup 2024 saw the introduction of Rule 5.17 concerning Acronyms and Abbreviations in Memorials. We have received a lot of feedback on the rule and have decided, pursuant to Rule 1.8(a), to update the list of permitted acronyms to include:

ACHPR African Commission on Human and People’s Rights
ACtHPR African Court on Human and People’s Rights
CJEU Court of Justice of the European Union
ECOSOC United Nations Economic and Social Council
HRC UN Human Rights Council
HRComm UN Human Rights Committee
IACHR Inter-American Commission of Human Rights
IACtHR Inter-American Court of Human Rights
PCIJ Permanent Court of International Justice

We are looking for Student Directors for 2024-2025

Want to get more involved with ILSA? We are now accepting applications for three new Student Directors. Student Directors serve as Members of the ILSA Board of Directors for a one year term.
To apply, submit your curriculum vitae and personal statement describing your reasons for wanting to serve as a Student Director. ILSA is now Soliciting Applications for 2024 Dalferes Laureates

The Rusty Dalferes Memorial Fund was established to help defray travel costs for dedicated, skilled Jessup judges to attend the White & Case International Rounds. We are now accepting applications from judges who wish to attend the International Rounds in 2024. If you wish to be considered, please complete the application form by December 8, 2023. Nominations now Open for the 2024 Student Deak Award

ILSA is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Student Deak Award. The Student Deak Award is sponsored by Oxford University Press for the best international law student article in a student-edited law journal. The award honors Francis Deak, a WWII veteran who wrote extensively on international law. The award is the student equivalent of the prize separately awarded by the American Journal of International Law to a younger author for meritorious scholarship in the prior year’s volume of the Journal. Jessup 2024 Basic Materials are here!

The Jessup 2024 Basic Materials are now available on our Competitors page under “Jessup Problem and Basic Materials” and on your team homepages. These basic materials are intended to serve as the starting point for your Jessup 2024 research. However, teams are encouraged to conduct research beyond these basic materials. In a change of practice from previous years, ILSA will not be issuing a second batch of Basic Materials; instead, we will update this list from time to time. We encourage all teams to visit the basic materials page frequently to make sure that you have the latest materials.
